Naoto Fukasawa

Naoto Fukasawa is a Japanese industrial designer who has gained worldwide recognition for his minimalist and functional designs. Born in Yamanashi, Japan, in 1956, Fukasawa studied product design at Tama Art University in Tokyo. He began his career working for the design firm Seiko Epson, where he developed products such as printers and scanners.

In 2003, Fukasawa established his own design studio, Naoto Fukasawa Design, which has worked with a wide range of clients, including furniture manufacturers, electronics companies, and even fashion brands. Some of his notable designs include the Muji CD player, the Herman Miller Sayl chair, and the Plus Minus Zero humidifier.

Fukasawa's designs are characterized by their simplicity, elegance, and attention to detail. He has been awarded numerous design awards, including the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, and the iF Product Design Award. Fukasawa has also been inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and has been honored with a retrospective exhibition at the Design Museum in London.

Aside from his design work, Fukasawa is also a professor at Musashino Art University in Tokyo and has given lectures and workshops around the world. His contributions to the design world have earned him a reputation as one of the most influential designers of his generation.
