Product Details
Eclisse, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965, won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1967 and has become a symbol of Italian design worldwide. Eclisse embodies the perfect balance between form and function, design and utility. The concept is based on its innovative function of adjusting the light intensity through its rotating inner shade that "eclipses" the light source. The lamp features a fixed outer shell and a mobile inner shell that enables it to provide both direct and diffused light.
This table lamp can also be mounted on a wall. Its body is made of painted metal, available in white, red, orange, or yellow, or in a PVD version created through an innovative and sustainable vacuum metal deposition process called "sputtering," available in black, brass, copper, or mirror.
From an environmental standpoint, this new finishing technology is one of the cleanest coating technologies available, using only metals that are not harmful to health and completely eliminating all emissions, including those of sulfuric acid and cyanide, which are typically produced by galvanic processes. The subsequent phase of transparent protective coating, aimed at ensuring the long-lasting aesthetic quality of the finish, uses a solid varnish containing a maximum of 5% solvents (compared to a traditional 75%). The waste generated by the process is minimal.
Eclisse is part of the permanent collection of the most important design museums, including the MoMA in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
