Gerrit Rietveld

Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888–1964) was a Dutch furniture designer and architect, a leading member of the De Stijl movement. He is best known for the Red and Blue Chair (1918) and the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht (1924), a UNESCO World Heritage site widely considered an icon of modernist architecture.His furniture pieces translate De Stijl's geometric and chromatic principles into three-dimensional structures, becoming defining objects of twentieth-century design.
